In short

On 12 October, LDA teams demolished boundary walls, offices, roads and other structures linked to six schemes: Mashallah Villas (an illegal subdivision near Mal Pind), Daman City, Maraka Marketing, Maraka Homes, Maraka City and New Lahore City. Maraka Marketing, Maraka City/Maraka Homes and two phases of New Lahore City appear on LDA's published illegal list. Daman City and Mashallah Villas do not appear under those names. The LDA Director General said action against illegal schemes is ongoing and taken "without discrimination". Check every scheme on lda.gop.pk's illegal and approved lists before paying anything.

Illegal housing schemes in Lahore were back in the news on 12 October 2026, when the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) demolished structures at six schemes along Sundar-Raiwind Road and Multan Road. This post lists the schemes named in the reports, shows which of them appear on LDA's own published illegal list, and explains how to check any scheme before you pay for a plot.

What happened on 12 October

ProPakistani, 24NewsHD, Pakistan Observer and Business Recorder all reported the same operation. According to ProPakistani, "LDA teams demolished boundary walls, offices, roads, and other structures associated with the illegal housing schemes." Pakistan Observer said it was carried out under the supervision of LDA's Chief Metropolitan Planner.

The schemes named in all four reports were:

  • Mashallah Villas (an illegal subdivision near Mal Pind)
  • Daman City
  • Maraka Marketing
  • Maraka Homes
  • Maraka City
  • New Lahore City

The reports do not give a legal section or the number of structures demolished, so we don't either.

According to ProPakistani, LDA officials said the crackdown "aims to protect citizens from investing in illegal housing projects". The Director General said operations against illegal schemes and unauthorised commercial activity "were ongoing, with action being taken without discrimination."

Which of them are on LDA's illegal list?

LDA publishes a "List of schemes declared illegal by LDA" at lda.gop.pk/illegal-schemes. We checked all 383 entries on 15 October 2026. The newest entry on the list is dated 29 May 2026.

Scheme in the newsOn LDA's illegal list?
Maraka MarketingYes, entry 338: "Maraka Marketing Land Subdivision", near Bata Factory, Multan Road
Maraka City / Maraka HomesYes, entry 343: "Maraka city/ Maraka Homes", Mouza Maraka, near Bata Factory, Multan Road
New Lahore CityTwo phases listed: entry 321, Phase III (Mouza Sultankey, UBD Canal Road), and entry 335, Phase IV, also known as New Lahore City Ext and Phase-I Ext (Mouza Sultankey, Sundar-Raiwind Road). Reports don't say which phase was hit
Daman CityNot found under that name
Mashallah VillasNot found under that name (a different entry, "Mashaallah Farms", should not be confused with it)

A scheme missing from the list is not proof that it is approved. LDA demolished structures at Daman City and Mashallah Villas anyway. A list updated in May can't include every subdivision that started since. Always check the approved list too.

The same week: 43 commercial properties sealed

In a separate operation, Business Recorder reported that LDA's Town Planning Wing sealed 43 commercial properties: 10 in Allama Iqbal Town, 15 in Gulberg and 18 on GT Road. They included schools, shops, salons, restaurants, clinics and workshops operating without commercial approval. If you are buying a house to run a business from, check the commercialisation status first.

Part of a longer crackdown

This was not the first operation this year. In July 2026, The Nation reported an operation against 14 illegal schemes on Manhala Road, Chhapa Village Road and Miraj Road, along with sealed commercial properties.

Since 1 July 2026, LDA has also said that sales in Lahore housing schemes must go through a Property Certificate issued by the Punjab Land Records Authority, with LDA Act 1975 action for non-compliance (Bloom Pakistan, 9 June).

Prices are indicative as of October 2026.

How to check a scheme before you buy

  1. Search the illegal list: lda.gop.pk/illegal-schemes. Search by name and by location (mouza and road), because schemes often trade under more than one name or phase.
  2. Search the approved list: lda.gop.pk/approved-schemes. A scheme should be on this list, with the same name and location the dealer gives you.
  3. Match the phase. Approval of one phase does not cover an extension or a new phase with a similar name. New Lahore City's listed phases show how this works.
  4. Ask for the LDA approval letter and layout plan, and check that your plot number is on the approved layout.
  5. Ask for the PLRA Property Certificate for the plot. If the seller offers only a file or an allotment letter, stop and check.
  6. Don't rely on roads or gates. Built roads, offices and boundary walls are what LDA demolished on 12 October. They show the land has been developed, not that the scheme is legal.

Our LDA approved societies guide explains the approval process in more detail. For homes in established areas, see houses for sale in Lahore and more Lahore property guides.

If you already bought in one of these schemes

LDA has not published a statement on what happens to people who already bought plots in the demolished schemes, and we found none in the reports. Keep every receipt, allotment letter and payment record. Get legal advice before making further payments to the developer. Check whether a complaint is already being pursued with LDA or the police.
